Governor Promises Dramatic Change Coming To Bridge Crashes

Noting a sharp increase in crashes westbound on the Washington Bridge, Governor Dan McKee said something dramatic will be done to address the problem.

The governor said there has been a 50-to-60 percent spike in accidents since the lanes were moved to the eastbound side in December when the separate westbound bridge was closed.

It's expected to be another month before RIDOT installs a 3rd lane in both directions to help ease traffic congestion.
