State Gets More Time To Provide Bridge Info To Fed

Federal investigators have given the Rhode Island Department of Transportation additional time to produce documents related to work performed on the Washington Bridge.

Monday was the original deadline for RIDOT to provide records to the U.S. Justice Department about the bridge, but that has been extended by three weeks.

The investigators are looking into whether there were false claims made to receive payment for construction, repair, or inspection on the westbound side of the bridge, which was closed on December 11th.

The documents sought date back to January 1st, 2015.
