Washington Bridge Oversight Hearing Today

A joint hearing of the Rhode Island House and Senate Oversight Committees is set to meet this afternoon to examine the ongoing issues with the Washington Bridge.

RIDOT Director Peter Alviti and Senior Deputy Chief of Staff Joseph Almond are among those expected to appear and offer testimony.

Governor Dan McKee attached Almond to monitor RIDOT's response to the bridge crisis.

The westbound span of the bridge has been closed since December 11th, and the hearing will take in a presentation on the circumstances leading up to the closure, and the steps taken since.

The joint committee meets at the Statehouse at 3 pm.
