MONDAY COVID-19 UPDATE: Governor Raimondo Presents Criteria for Reopening

Governor Gina Raimondo used her daily briefing on Monday to outline the approach which Rhode Island will take in order to considering reopening aspects of the state's economy. Raimondo presented a graphic showing the "Six Key Indicators fro Reopening" RI Businesses (see below). Key indicators include "Has the rate of spread continued to decrease?" and "Does our healthcare system have the capacity and the PPE to handle future surges? In delivering the outline, the governor added, "Until we have a vaccine, which will be about a year away, we'll be living under a new set of circumstances."

The RI Department of Health announced on Monday the following statistics regarding COVID-19 data:

  • 339 New Cases. Total now 5,090
  • 5 recent deaths. 155 total fatalities. (Latest deaths: age range 60's to 90's)
  • 272 currently hospitalized.
