DOJ Can't Put Immigration-Themed Restrictions On Law Enforcement Grant

(Providence, RI)--A federal judge is siding with the cities of Providence and Central Falls in a case regarding the obtaining of federal funds for law enforcement.Judge John McConnell Jr. on Monday ruled that the DOJ can't place special conditions on funding from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant and ordered that the cities receive money from the program for the 2017 fiscal year.The cities sued over the Justice Department's stipulations about illegal immigrant offenders.
