GOP Leaders React To Release Of Mueller Report

Several Republican leaders are reacting to the news of Attorney General William Barr's summary of the Robert Mueller investigation…and while President Trump and his supporters see the result as putting him in the clear, Barr notes, quote – "while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."Still, Republicans are cheering:

  • South Carolina SenatorLindsey Graham has taken to Twitter to cheerthe investigation as well as the result. "Great job by Mr. Mueller and his team to thoroughly examine all things Russia,” he offered. “Now it is time to move on, govern the country, and get ready to combat Russia and other foreign actors ahead of 2020."

  • Then there’s House Republican LeaderKevin McCarthy, who tweeted"After two years, two congressional investigations, and now the closure of a Special Counsel investigation, it is abundantly clear, without a shadow of a doubt, there was no collusion. This case is closed."

  • Over in the Senate…Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is also happy with the result. “The Special Counsel’s conclusions confirm the President’s account,”McConnell writes. “That there was no effort by his campaign to conspire or coordinate with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 presidental election.”

  • Georgia Representative Doug Collins chimed in, too. "There was no collusion,”he offers. “There is no constitutional crisis."

Also commenting? Former FBI DirectorJames Comey, who tweeted a picture of himself in a forest of tall treeswith the caption, “So many questions.”
