RAIMONDO AND FUNG GREATLY DIFFER ON FREE TUITION AT CCRI

The Pro Jo ran a story ran a story about incumbent Governor Gina Raimondo and GOP challenger Allan Fung differing on the RHODE ISLAND PROMISE program, that's the state's free tuition ride to CCRI. Raimondo wants to expand it while Fung wants to abolish it in its current form. Indy Joe Trillo would likely continue to program with stricter rules and regulations but says the state can't afford an expansion. Fung feels not enough students met the criteria to get the funding for the second year and students who drop out don't have to repay the scholarship money they got in year one. Will this become a burning issue over the next 4 weeks plus before the election? I'm sure both Raimondo and Fung would like it to be. First, it can put  Raimdono's Achilles heel of UHIP on the back the burner and do the same for Fung's Cranston TICKETGATE fiasco. I'm sure BOTH canddiates would like to see that happen...plus Raimondo's base favors RI PROMISE  WHILE Fung's GOP  base looks at it with disdain. It's likely NOT an issue to move the needle for either.
