POLITICS IS SPORT IN RHODE ISLAND

The prospect of Rhode Island losing one of its two seats in the House of Representatives seems inevitable. According to U.S Census estimates recently released, Rhody is just 157 people away from losing the game of musical chairs. Rhode island's population IS growing, but at a snail's pace while other states are seeing rapid gains. Retaining or losing a seat will be based on the 2020 census. The loss of a seat could make it harder for the state to get its piece of the federal spending pie. It would also set up a primary battle between Congressmen Jim Langevin and  David Ciccillini, two likely Congressional lifers. Wouldn't THAT be fun...watching these two eating their own. If that scenario played out, Langevin and Ciccillini would likely spend BIG in what would be a heavyweight primary then facing a Republican challenger. In Rhode island, politics is a sport and losing a seat in the House of Representatives could set up a real slobberknocker. American humorist and screenwriter S.J Perelman once said "the main obligation is to amuse yourself." This would certainly  be amusing.
